I Have a Dream and a Plan to Save the Oceans

Imagine you woke up one day and realised you knew how to solve the largest form of water pollution in the world. What would you do?

This is exactly what happened to me fourteen years ago when a customer asked me to get rid of the oil stains in their parking lot. I did some research and mixed up a batch of oil removing cleaners that would pull the oil out of driveways. Little did I know that there can be quarts of oil in one spot alone! WOW was I surprised when I made my own oil spill and watched my customer panic. 

After I plugged the drains and let the mess settle back into the parking lot I decided to do some research and found Professor Hall at the University of British Columbia whose research showed clearly that big oil spills we’re not the problem, it was the little drips and drops that were slowly but surely killing our aquatic system. We dump a 100 Valdez spills a year alone from drips and drops the largest source of which is in parking lots. The next time you go shopping have a look at all the oil. This is when I decided that I had to come up with a driveway oil stain remover. When I looked at the problem I realised we needed two key things to solve the problem. We needed the technology and the awareness. This is why I formed STO and invented the key oil recycling process that is the foundation of Oil Lift patented technology.

Ask yourself this, how do you solve a problem when virtually every single person on the planet is contributing to that problem? Enact legislation? The problem with this approach is that there simply are not enough people to police everyone, although legislation that’s reinforced with education can help. Make cars that don’t use oil? That technology is a little far off into the future, and by then it will be too late. 

I realised the key to solving the problem was in changing the cleaning behaviour that causes the problem by giving people a better mouse trap. This way of thinking is why we say “Now you have a choice”. When every one in the world is aware that they can save money, get better cleaning results and by default help stop the largest form of water pollution in the world what will happen?
